Meet the Characters

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Franz Bruner

Occupation: Night Watchman, Boylston Mill

Moran's Observations: Harmless old coot who's worked in the mill for decades. Completely in love with the Boylston family and would give his life for the mill. Friendly with the mill workers and tries to keep them out of the clutches of the socialist agitators.

Conversation Overheard: "Poor Mister Boylston, That man has the weight of the world on his shoulders."

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Anna Caruso

Occupation: Weaver, Boylston Mill

Moran's Observations: One of the hundreds of mill girls who clog the streets of town. This one seems to be sharper than the rest. I need to keep my eye on her to make sure she doesn't fall in with those Italian socialists who are trying to stir up trouble in the mill.

Conversation Overheard: "We're not sheep. We will hear what the organizer has to say and then we'll decide."

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Walter Armbruster

Occupation: Manager, Boylston Mill

Moran's Observations: He's a young man in a hurry. Caught the eye of the Boylstons when he was young and now runs the whole mill for them. But I can tell it's no picnic for him - he's trying to keep everyone happy and the labor agitators are coming to get him. We'll see if he's made of strong enough stuff to beat them back.

Conversation Overheard: "We can't tolerate slackers. We have one thousand workers and we must keep them disciplined!"

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Sophie Kalish

Occupation: Weaver, Boylston Mill

Moran's Observations: This one always brings a smile to my face. Says the craziest things and thinks the world revolves around her. She and Anna are always together, you'd think they were sisters.

Conversation Overheard: "There's a secret meeting. I'm telling everyone!"

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Hiram Boylston

Occupation: Playboy

Moran's Observations: When they handed out the brains, they forgot to give Hiram any. So they made up for it by giving him lots of money. He's the son of the mill owner and stands to inherit the whole thing. Saints preserve us if that happens. He'll probably turn the mill into a golf course for his millionaire pals.

Conversation Overheard: "Brilliantly cold-blooded. I like it!"

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Amadeo Mosca

Occupation: Vegetable peddler

Moran's Observations: The biggest socialist in town. Always angry at the mill bosses. Sells his vegetables in the square and rails against capitalism. Some of the younger workers are starting to pay attention to him. I'm keeping my eye on him - if he crosses the line he'll find himself behind bars.

Conversation Overheard: "All they care about is money money money!"

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Jedediah Mellencamp

Occupation: Chief Salesman, Boylston Mill

Moran's Observations: A wee terror, this one is. Always in a bad mood because his business is so terrible. I believe he hates the socialists more than I do myself. But then he seems to hate everyone equally.

Conversation Overheard: "Those lacquered dandies can go to the devil!"

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Sam Brownstone

Occupation: Lawyer and Real Estate Developer

Moran's Observations: Honest folks need to count their fingers after they've shaken hands with this one. He owns a lot of slum property around town and has big plans to develop a fancy new district up on the Heights. Sometimes I think all his rents go to pay for his diamond stickpins and New York suits, because he always seems to be short on cash.

Conversation Overheard: "I love the smell of fresh greenbacks in the morning!"

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Stanley Franklin

Occupation: Foreman, Boylston Mill

Moran's Observations: Wouldn't want this fellow's job. He has to ride herd on all the ignorant immigrant workers, and then he gets yelled at by his bosses at the mill. He'll be in an early grave for sure.

Conversation Overheard: "What, do I look like your teacher?

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Mamma Caruso

Occupation: Laundress

Moran's Observations: Very nice Italian lady, always respectful towards the police. Seems to have a bad leg so she doesn't go out much. Superstitious. Her daughter is that whip-smart Anna.

Conversation Overheard: "My bad leg tells me there's trouble brewing in town. You mark my words!"

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Triplets

Occupation: Schoolboys

Moran's Observations: These triple terrors are going to be a handful for the police one of these days. I caught them trying to switch all the street signs around one night. Gave them a whipping they'll long remember. And their sister Anna is so level-headed,too.

Conversation Overheard: "Andrea fell into the tanning vat. But he's ok. Just a little browner than usual!"

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Elizabeth Armbruster

Occupation: Society lady

Moran's Observations: Beautiful lady from the Heights. Married to young Armbruster. If you ask me, she's the brains of the outfit - she's set her sights on becoming the finest lady in town. Not bad for the daughter of Vogel the furniture man.

Conversation Overheard: You'll be quite content when we are the envy of Eureka Falls. Patience, my darling. We are a fine team.

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Joey Walsh

Occupation: Newsboy

Moran's Observations: Dirty street urchin, always peddling his papers and complaining about how hungry he is. No known parents, sleeps on the streets. Likes to stick his nose where it doesn't belong.

Conversation Overheard: "So, my room is so small I gotta go outside just to change my mind!"

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Seamus Moran

Occupation: Policeman

Moran's Observations: Devilishly handsome, a prince among men. The keenest mind and sharpest eye on the Eureka police force, with a nose for ferreting out socialist agitators. Bows before no man, but respects the rule of law above all.

Conversation Overheard: "It's strictly for the upper crust. Only big-shots allowed. And me, of course. I have to keep the riff-raff out."

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Anthony Biancardi

Occupation: Labor Agitator

Moran's Observations: My blood pressure goes through the roof just thinking about this boyo. An Italian labor agitator from Boston. Smart fellow -- I'll give him that. He wouldn't think twice about destroying our mill with a strike. But I'm one step ahead of him.

Conversation Overheard: "This time we are going to fight back. Say goodbye to your peaceful little mill right now!"

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Abe Lefkowitz

Occupation: Picture Show Proprietor

Moran's Observations: A traitorous villain who's on the side of the socialists. He runs his kinetoscope parlor, which attracts the dregs of society, and deals in stolen merchandise. I'm biding my time until I can run him out of town.

Conversation Overheard: "She's meshuggah!"

From the Secret Files of Patrolman Seamus Moran

Name: Minturn Leverett

Occupation: Minister

Moran's Observations: This one looks like he's been carved from stone -- a fine figure of a man, very proper indeed. Preacher at that big church in the Heights where the rich folks worship. I think he's a little bit soft on lawbreaking socialists and those ragged immigrants down on Tannery Road.

Conversation Overheard: "Now now. All will be well. We must have faith in that."
